About the Competition

Penta Real Estate s.r.o. in cooperation with PSN s.r.o. announces an open art competition. The subject of the competition is the design of an artwork placed in a public space between the future administrative building Vinohradská 8 and the existing building Vinohradská 10 („Unimex“). The project includes the creation of a new pedestrian passage through the city block, which connects the streets Římská, Vinohradská and Rubešova.

This will create a new city connection with potential for active use. The aim is to highlight the entry into the passageway, energize the main public space in front of the administrative building and attract the attention of its visitors.

Competition theme

The theme of the artwork is free. The choice of motif and artistic approach is fully left to the artists. Artists can draw inspiration from the history of the locality, its atmosphere or urbanistic context. Similarly, they can accentuate the current function of the place, especially the dynamics of the administrative building and its connection to the residential part. The aim is to create a work that sensitively responds to the character of the public space and contributes to its identity and cultural value.

1. Phase - libreto

Participants in the 1. phase of the competition are all who have met the conditions for participation in the competition. The electronically submitted publication should contain an ideational design of the artwork presented on the maximum extent of 5 pages. The booklet will be processed in the form of a short structured text and graphic expression. Based on the booklets, the jury will select 5–8 participants who will be invited by the organizer to participate in the 2. phase of the competition, i.e. the development of the idea into a detailed design.

2. Phase - proposal

Participants in the 2. phase of the competition are only participants who were invited by the jury to develop the booklet and submit proposals after the 1. phase. The participants will present their proposals to the jury during the mandatory continuous consultation and then at the competition workshop. After the workshop, the jury will select the winner of the competition.

For participants

More detailed materials in the form of architectural drawings and visualizations will be received by the participants after submitting the application for participation and will have them available for the creation of the booklet.
